The several videos covering Frank Lloyd Wright’s career contain segments regarding his Usonian houses, featuring the First Jacobs. Nevertheless, the primary source of information for this significant aspect of his work continues to be in books.
For example, Herbert Jacobs’ book, Building With Frank Lloyd Wright: An Illustrated Memoir is still available from the University of Southern Illinois Press
“The Jacobs House I,” by Donald Kalec appears in Frank Lloyd Wright and Madison: Eight Decades of Artistic and Social Interaction, edited by Paul Sprague and published by the University of Wisconsin Press.
A book about all of the Usonian houses by John Sergeant, Frank Lloyd Wright’s Usonian Houses: the Case for Organic Architecture remains available in paperback. On its cover appears the presentation drawing of the First Jacobs House.
For what Mr. Wright himself had to say about the Usonian house, especially the First Jacobs, his book The Natural House is to be highly recommended.
For wonderful photographs of the house see Bruce Brooks Pfeiffer’s oversized Frank Lloyd Wright Monograph 5, Tokyo: A.S.A. Edita, 1985, pp. 228-233.
And there are many other references in photographs and texts in the ever-growing literature on Wright, including Wright-Sized Houses, Diane Maddex, published by Abrams.
Awards:
In the 1970s, the First Jacobs House was placed on the National Register of Historical Buildings and presented a plaque as a Local Landmark.
In the late 1980s the AIA gave the restoration it’s highest award.
In 2003 the U.S. Department of the Interior designated the house a National Landmark.
